Maintenance Manager

The General Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and actively supporting all maintenance operations to ensure facilities, equipment, and building systems remain safe, efficient, and fully operational. The role involves leading maintenance teams, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities, managing resources and budgets, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards while supporting the organization’s operational objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs across facilities and equipment.
  • Lead, supervise, and support maintenance technicians, tradespersons, and external contractors.
  • Allocate work orders, prepare staff rosters, set priorities, and monitor the completion of maintenance activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and building systems to identify maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance works to minimise operational downtime.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventories, and procurement of tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of services.
  • Train, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel to improve technical competencies and safety awareness.
  • Prepare and issue quotations for maintenance services and ensure the timely collection of payments.
  • Support long-term asset management, facility upgrades, and energy-efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and stakeholders to provide effective maintenance support and operational continuity.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Building Services, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Professional certifications in Facilities Management, HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, or related disciplines will be considered an asset.
